David Bowie Died at Age 69 After Battling Cancer1 min read
On January 10 2016 David Bowie died peacefully surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. The news was announced on Bowie’s facebook page.
The news was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. Duncan Jones (Bowie’s son), also confirmed it over Twitter.
Bowie’s death was unexpected, given his medical condition was not published to the media.
While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.
David Bowie was an English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, arranger, painter, and actor. Bowie was known as an innovator and was particularly known for his work from the 70’s. Bowie’s latest album, Blackstar, was released last week on his birthday.
The world has lost one of the most, if not the most influential artists of all time.
Bowie was survived by his wife Iman, his son Duncan Jones and daughter Alexandria Zahra Jones.
